In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Sayings of Non-Muslim Westerners about our Master Muhammad PBUH:

Dear noble brothers it is said, "The best of things is manifested when enemies give their good testimony about them." I would like in this blessed meeting to quote what the famous non-Muslim scientists said about our Master Muhammad, peace be upon him.

1- One of the greatest non-Muslim western biographers:

One of the greatest non-Muslim western biographers said:
Muhammad was a devoted worshiper and an outstanding leader. He founded a state from fragmented and divided people, and he was a man of war who made plans, and led armies. He was a kind father and a husband whose heart was overflowing with love, mercy, and compassion. He was a close friend, a generous relative, and a caring neighbor; he cares about the worries of his neighbors.

He was a ruler who was concerned about the feelings of those whom he ruled, and he used to treat them kindly and affectionately, and so they used to defend him with their own souls.

His Da'wah (calling people to believe in Allah and worship Him Alone) was the greatest ever on earth. This Da'wah improved man's complete existence as a great creature, and it penetrated to him to be deeply rooted. People noticed all the noble traits the Noble Prophet had, so they believed in all the principles he brought after noticing them reflected on him.

Those people did not read about the noble qualities and the valuable principles of the Prophet, peace be upon him, but rather they noticed them manifested in a moving human being, so their hearts melted out of love to him, and they made their best to follow his step, each one due to his scope.

He was the greatest example in history for all mankind to follow. He was guider, and he was an educator through his good manners which preceded his nice words while dealing with others.

2- The British researches Kariel:

The British researcher Kariel said, "Doubting the validity of the Prophethood of Muhammad, peace be upon him, and his religion till this day is great shame. We have to respond to such incorrect opinions and meaningless sayings. Despite the passage of centuries since the mission of this noble Prophet started, hundreds of Millions of Muslims in the world are enlightened by the light of his Message."

3- An American university professor:

An American university professor said, "Muhammad, peace be upon him, realized the importance of union, the high status of Muslims, and the high status of a united society in his Islamic mission, and thus he planted with his own hands the seeds of union and affection inside souls, watered them and took care of them, until they gave sweet fruit.

4- The British author Miller:

Miller, the well-known British author, said, "Some religions are concerned with the spiritual aspects of human life, and their instructions have no interests in the political, legal, or social matters. Muhammad, peace be upon him, through his mission, and his Divine faithfulness was a Prophet, and a ruler of a state in every sense of the word. In addition, he was a law legislator, and his law included civil, political and social regulations.

5- The author Retin:

The western writer and researcher Retin said, "Since the emergence of the mission of Muhammad, peace be upon him, the brightness of the light of Islam, this prophet has proven that his mission is directed to the worlds, that this sacred religion is suitable for every age and every nationality, and that human beings all over the world, regardless their civilization, are indispensable to this religion. The teachings of this religion are in harmony with human thought."

6- The Swiss contemporary scientist and writer Jean-Jacque Rousseau:

Jean-Jacque Rousseau, the contemporary Genevan writer and scientist says, "If we look closely at the style and morals of Muhammad, peace be upo0n him, despite the passage of fourteen centuries since the beginning of his mission, we will be able to understand the whole relationship that binds millions of people in the world to this great man. Such a relationship made them and makes them sacrifice the expensive and the cheap, and the soul and the precious for his sake and for the sake of his lofty Islamic principles."

7- The Russian Philosopher Tolstoy:

We move to how the Russian philosopher Tolstoy saw our Master Muhammad, peace be upon him. Tolstoy admired Islam and its teachings, particularly the ones related to asceticism, good morals, and mysticism. He was fascinated by the personality of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and this was evident in his works. In an article entitled Who is Muhammad? he said, "Muhammad is a founder and a Messenger. He was one of the great men who served the human society with a great service. It is enough of an honor for him to guide an entire nation to the light of truth, making this nation incline to serenity and peace and favor the life of asceticism, and he prevented it from shedding blood and losing people as victims. Furthermore, he opened for it the path towards serenity and peace, making it developed and civilized. This is a great job that only a powerful man can do. Such person deserves all respect and honor."

Tolstoy also said about him, "There is no doubt that Muhammad, peace be upon him [whenever we mention Muhammad, we should send him Allah's Peace and Blessings, for it is included in the text] offered through his mission a great service to humanity, for it is a great honor and guidance for people, and it is the one which laid the foundations of peace, stability, and prosperity. Moreover, it opened the path towards civilization and progress for generations.  It is obvious that what Muhammad, peace be upon him, did is a great job that none can do but a brave man with strong determination, and such a person undoubtedly deserves all honor, appreciation and respect."

8- An atheist thinker:

An atheist thinker said, "In fact, Muhammad, peace be upon him, came with a Message that none can deny, it is the summary of the previous Messages, and even it is more elevated than them. Accordingly, his Message to the world is an unchangeable constitution. Besides, what Muhammad, peace be upon him, brought alongside his words are in harmony with the taste of human beings, and the awareness of mankind of this age."

9- The Italian scientist Waxton:

How beautiful is what the Italian scientist Waxton said! He said, "If someone asks me, 'Who is Muhammad, whom you praise with all this praise?' I will tell him politely and respectfully, 'This famous man and this leader whom I praise with all this praise is matchless. In addition to being sent from Allah the Almighty, he is the head of an Islamic government which was a refuge and a haven for all the oppressed and Muslims on earth, and was a protector of their social interests. Muhammad, peace be upon him, who is considered the founder of that government, was a political leader in every sense of the word."

Dear noble brothers, our Master Muhammad is the greatest man in history according to historians and western writers.

10- The French writer Corsieh:

The French writer Corsieh said, "Before and after being a Prophet, Muhammad, peace be upon him, was a brave and chivalric young man with thoughts superior to those common in his society. He managed with his noble manners to guide the bigoted Arabs who were worshiping idols to worship Allah the One. Also, under his united democratic ruling, he was able to overcome all kinds of chaos, conflict, and fighting that were prevailing all over the Arab's Peninsula. He profoundly established the basis of good morals, turning the savage Arab society into a civilized one."

11- The European historian James:

The European historian James said in an article entitled, The Supernatural Personality- meaning the Prophet, peace be upon him- "Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, with his extraordinary personality, revolutionized the Arabian Peninsula in the whole East. He destroyed idols with his own hands, and established an eternal religion that calls for believing in Allah Alone."

12- The French philosopher Cardiffo:

And the French philosopher Cardiffo said, "Muhammad was the inspiring and believing Prophet, and no one could reach his high unrivaled position. Equality and brotherhood that Muhammad established among the members of the Islamic entity were practically applied even to the Prophet himself.

13- The British philosopher Thomas Carlyle:

Thomas Carlyle, the famous English philosopher devoted a chapter in his book On Heroes, Hero-Worship and the Heroic in History which he entitled The Hero as Prophet: Mahomet: Islam. In this chapter, he considered the Prophet, peace be upon him, one of the greatest seven figures in history. He defended Prophet Muhammad against prejudiced accusations saying, "Prejudiced atheists claim that Muhammad only desired personal fame, glory and authority, but, by Allah, this is a false claim! This great deep-hearted son of the desert, with his beaming black eyes, deep soul full of mercy and beneficence, kindness and piety, wisdom and persuasion had sublime thoughts other than worldly ambitions. How can this not be when he had a silent great soul; he was one of those who cannot but be in earnest!"

14- The author of 'A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History':

Michael H. Hart,  the author of A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History, studied the history of mankind, and he chose a hundred men among the great human beings throughout the ages. He chose Muhammad, peace be upon him, to be at top of the greatest 100 men in history. He said, "He is the first man among the first hundred men in the history of all mankind, in terms of how great the influence was, what type the influence was, how long the influence remained, and how wide the influence extended."

Some of the noble traits of the Prophet PBUH according to Muslim biographers:

We move now to some of the noble traits of the Prophet, peace be upon him, mentioned by Muslim biographers.
He, peace be upon him, was very humble and abundantly polite. He used to be the one who initiate the greeting with people, and he used to listen attentively to the person talking to him whether young or old. He was the last to pull his hand after shaking hands with others, and when he used to pay Sadaqah, he would put it in the hands of the poor with his noble hand. He used to sit wherever there was an available seat, and he was never seen stretching his legs in front of anyone. He never complained about managing his own affairs, or managing his friends' or neighbors'. He used to go to the market and carry his stuff by himself, saying, "I should carry them myself." He used to answer the invitation of any freeman, any slave or any poor man. He used to accept apology, clean his cloths, take care of his shoes, serve himself, take care of his camel, broom his house, serve his household, eat with servants and meet the needs of the weak and miserable.

He used to walk modestly, lowering his gaze, and he would always ponder over things. He tended to be silent and to talk only when needed, and when he used to talk, he would be eloquent. He was a gentleman and never ungrateful or humiliating. He appreciated blessings no matter how insignificant they might have seemed, and he never dispraised them. He never complained about any kind of food nor did he praise it. He never got angry about worldly matters or about his own matters. When he got angry with someone, he would just turn his head, and when got happy about something, he would lower his gaze.

He used to unite people and bring them together, and he never separated them from one another. He used to dignify honorable people and give them leadership over their people. He used to ask about people and check on his companions' needs. He used to improve the good thing and strengthen it, and he used to disapprove the bad thing and weaken it. He never neglected any right or overpassed it.

Whoever sat with him would think that he was the most beloved to him. He used to fulfill the needs of everyone asking him, or at least he would say to him nice words. He used to be always delightful, well-mannered, and lenient. He was never rude or harsh. He never said bad words, criticized others or kidded them. He never cared about things he might have longed for. He never let anyone down, and he never dispraised others, criticized them, or looked for their defects. He used to say only good words. He used to laugh at what his companions laughed at, and he used to wonder about the things that his companions wondered about. He used to be patient with strangers and tolerant with those who talked to him impolitely or indecently. He never interrupted anyone while talking until the latter finished.

In fact, volumes and sermons for many years would never be enough for discussing the Prophet's noble traits.

Dear noble brothers, this is how your Prophet, peace be upon him, was descried by non- Muslim westerners. They talked about this great Prophet, peace be upon him, who is one of mankind, but he was the top among them. Verily, loving this Noble Prophet, following him and glorifying him are parts of this religion. I ask Allah the Almighty to make us among those who appreciate the value of their Prophet, peace be upon him, and follow his Sunnah.
